Hello Priddis,

While it has been a gloomy and wet start to the month, we are looking forward to better weather ahead. Please read on for important information about what is happening in our community.

PROGRAMS:

Yoga (Monday/Thursday evenings), Playgroup (Wednesday mornings) and Martial Arts (Wednesday evenings) are continuing for the month of June. Most of our programs take a break for July and August.

LIBRARY:

Did you know we have our very own library in the hamlet? Run by volunteers, the library is located in the Old School House and is open Tues/Thurs 3-5pm and Saturdays from 10am-noon. Part of the Marigold system, our library operates on the honor system. We also accept donations of recent paperbacks in good condition.

SUMMER CAMPS:

Rediscover Play will be back in the community this summer offering day camps for children aged 5-13. More information and registration can be found on their website: Priddis — Rediscover Play

PARKING:

As we are well into the busy season in the hamlet, this is just a reminder that the Hall parking lot is private property reserved for PCA members and those using the hall. If you are leaving a car unattended in the lot, you must display your PCA membership on the dash. Please remove all cars by 8pm as the gate will be closed most evenings. The hall is almost fully booked between now and the end of October so please obey parking signs and do not park in the lot when there is an event happening at the hall.

STAMPEDE BREAKFAST:

It is almost that time of year again! Our most popular event will take place on Sunday July 5 from 8am-noon. Join us for a pancake breakfast, live music by The Type, horse and wagon rides, petting zoo, face painting, firetrucks and a local vendor market. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at the event.

The Stampede Breakfast requires many volunteers in order to make it a success.

Wishing you a fun and rest filled summer with your family and friends,

The PCA Board of Directors

Hello wonderful community members,

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

  • Friday May 8 and Saturday May 9- Community Garage Sale

This event is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and it takes many helpers in order to be successful. Volunteers on Friday will be helping community members unload donations from their cars and sorting them in the hall. Volunteers on Saturday will be helping with the sale and cleanup. Please email garage sale chairperson, Arlene, at aljelfs@googlemail.com if you are able to help.

  • Saturday May 30- Rink Board Removal

Thanks to a generous grant from the Daryl K Seaman Hockey Fund at the Calgary Foundation, our beloved community rink is getting new boards! This will be an exciting, and much needed, functional and safety upgrade for year round rink use. But before that can happen, the old boards need to come down and we are looking for volunteers to help with that. Some notes:

  • Please bring a drill with batteries/chargers (proper bits provided)

  • Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age

  • Lunch will be provided for volunteers (12-1pm)

  • Shift 1 (9am-12:30pm), Shift 2 (12:30pm-4pm)

  • The old arena boards will be for sale on a first come, first served basis. Please contact priddishockey@gmail.com to express your interest

Please save the date. Volunteer schedule and sign up to be released next month. We will need help with prep and setup on Saturday and with execution and clean up of the event on Sunday.

Thank you for considering giving back to your community through volunteering.

PROGRAMS:

  • Community Yoga

Community Yoga will be continuing for May and June. Classes take place from 7:30-8:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays at the Priddis Hall. Whether you are experienced with yoga or brand new, we invite you to come try the class. It is a wonderful mix of flow and restorative in a welcoming atmosphere. Email lorichinnery@heartomwellness.com for more information or to register.

  • Indoor Pickleball

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed this program over the winter. Our indoor pickleball court is now closed and we are excited to be able to start playing on our beautiful outdoor courts soon. A friendly reminder that users of the outdoor pickleball courts must have a PCA membership and the courts are available on a first come, first served basis. The nets must be taken up and put away by players after each use. Please keep glass, pets, skateboards, bikes and scooters off the courts.

  • Youth Ball Hockey

We are looking to gauge interest in a youth drop in ball hockey program this summer. This would be a grassroots, sticks in the middle, once a week opportunity for community members. We are also looking for some local teenagers who would be interested in helping to manage the program. Please send expressions of interest to jillianaguitar@gmail.com

  • Martial Arts

The new community martial arts program will be continuing in May. There are classes for all ages offered either once or twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays) at the Priddis Community Hall. Please email yus84635@gmail.com for more information or to register.

EVENTS:

  • Garage Sale

Drop off your donations (good working order, no old electronics or books. No box springs. We can't accept car seats or helmets) from 10am-7pm on Friday May 8

Come back to shop for new to you treasures on Saturday May 9 from 9am-1pm. All proceeds from this event support the PCA to maintain community amenities and offer programs and events.

  • Stampede Breakfast

Are you interested in providing a sponsorship for our Stampede Breakfast? Please reach out to priddisalberta@gmail.com for more information

If you would like to purchase a table for our vendor market please email priddismarkets@gmail.com

PARKING LOT:

As the weather gets nicer and the busy season in the hamlet approaches, we wanted to take a moment to remind community members about acceptable use of the Community Hall Parking lot.

First and foremost, this parking lot is private property. As is stated on the sign at the entrance, the parking lot is for the use of PCA members and those attending a program, event or function at the Hall.

When there is a large function at the hall, the renters require all of the parking lot space and no other parking is permitted. The same goes for large community events such as the upcoming garage sale.  Please obey the "event parking only" signs.

Anyone leaving a car unattended in the parking lot (not parking there to use the amenities or attend a program, event or function at the hall) when the gate is open and "event parking only" signs are not out must display their PCA membership on their dashboard.

During busy times the gate will be closing in the evenings. Those leaving a car unattended in the lot are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the signage indicating when the gate will be closed.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Hello wonderful community members,

We have a few community projects and events coming up that require a lot of volunteers and we are hoping that you can help us.

  • Sunday April 19- Spring Community Clean Up

We are looking for volunteers to help us get the hall and rink areas in great shape for the summer months. We will begin at 10:30am and hope to be done by 1pm. Tasks on the list include tidying up the rink area, organizing and weeding and pruning at the hall and playground. Please bring work gloves, rakes and anything else you think may be handy. Lunch provided for volunteers. Please sign up here:
