COMMUNITY UPDATES

Check out all upcoming events HERE

As you might have heard, the Premier of Alberta and Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health have given community centres and halls the green light to re-open as part of Phase 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy. Even though Phase 2 begins as early as this Friday, June 12, we are not quite ready to open just yet.

The Priddis Community Association is working to devise a plan to re-open the hall and library for all our members and users. Please bear with us as we navigate these new requirements. It is important to us that we are able to provide and maintain a healthy and safe environment for all.

Stay tuned for more information. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Recycling Coming Along in Priddis!

Our new bottle recycling bins have arrived and are located in the west end of the Priddis Community Hall parking lot by the rink. Thanks to a very generous grant of $6,987 from the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corp’s (ABCRC) Community Champions Program, we now have 4 new secure beverage container donation bins. A special thank you goes out to Brandon from Rangeview Fabricating in Ontario for making our bins. They look amazing! The bottle recycling program is a significant fundraiser for the Priddis Panthers Hockey Association. Thank you to everyone making donations as this supports youth in your community.

Note: it is recommended that boxes with donations be sealed and smaller bags be used so they fit easily into the roller chutes.

Priddis Parent & Tot Drop In - Playgroup

Parent & Tot Playgroup - We are hoping to get together again soon!

THE PCA IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO HELP FACILITATE THESE PLAYGROUPS! If you are interested, please email: pcayoungfamilies@gmail.com

With the recent announcement that Alberta is entering into Stage 2 the PCA Parent & Tot Playgroup is hoping to be able to start meeting again soon. Usually, we take a break through the summer months, however if there should be enough interest we may be able to host a few gatherings through the summer.

Please check back here for more information!

Priddis Community Rink Re-build

At the Skate with Santa event on December 15th, 2019, Terry French, director of the Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation, presented a $20,000 cheque to the Priddis Community Association for the rink rebuild. Priddis area residents are one step closer to getting their rink rebuilt thanks to Spruce Meadows!

2020 Priddis Community Hall Time Capsule

A Time Capsule Ceremony will be held on July 5th at the 2020 Stampede Breakfast.

Let's go back in time ...

In July 1967, Priddis residents decided to commemorate Canada’s Centennial with a time capsule. Three young boys from the community were chosen as stewards, being 3rd generation residents of the Priddis area.

On the 50th anniversary, an official ceremony was held at the 2017 Stampede Breakfast. Two of the three stewards were available to open the time capsule, Scott Stewart and Kevin Stanton. Close to 1,000 people were in attendance that day, including Lt.-Gov. Lois Mitchell.

If you are interested in helping to coordinate details of this very special ceremony, items to be placed in the capsule, selecting stewards, etc., please contact priddissecretary@gmail.com

Priddis Community Library

The Priddis Library is in the old school house beside the outdoor rink and is open Tuesday and Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Drop in to borrow a book or donate your used books. Arlene, Geraldine and/or Carol would love to see you come by and take advantage of this great local resource. The library hours can be extended with more volunteer help. Please contact Arlene at (403) 931-3750 and let her know when you are available.
