Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area

The Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area (ASCCA) is a 4,800 acre day-use, natural area. Located south west of Calgary off of Highway 22X, it was donated to the Province of Alberta by Ann and Sandy Cross in 1987. With over 20 km of scenic trails, it is open daily from 4:00 am - 11 pm, year round. We do not allow dogs, bikes or skiing. Visitors can sign in at a hiker kiosk which is located adjacent to the lower parking lot. Larger groups are asked to book ahead of time on our website. The ASCCA runs summer day-camps, school programs and community conservation learning events, such as our annual Star Night with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC)”.

The Cross Conservation Area is dedicated to:

  • protecting habitat and providing space for native species of wildlife;

  • offering conservation education programs (particularly to youth) without jeopardizing wildlife and habitat, and

  • managing human use of the ASCCA through entry by registration only.

County Foothills

Foothills County encompasses a diverse rural landscape in which leadership and planning support a strong agricultural heritage, vibrant communities, a balanced economy and the stewardship of natural capital for future generations.

Foothills County is a rural municipality located adjacent to and immediately south of the City of Calgary. The County covers approximately 3,600 square kilometres in area, located in the foothills of sunny southern Alberta. It surrounds the Towns of Okotoks, High River, Turner Valley and Black Diamond, the Village of Longview, and the Eden Valley Indian Reserve.

Millarville Horticultural Club

Millarville Horticultural Club was established in 1976 when a group of local gardeners decided to get together to discuss the joys and perils of gardening in the Foothills. The group has been going strong ever since. The club meets 9x a year, September through June. Members enjoy guest speakers, potluck dinners, a junior program, and garden tours, both local and to other Alberta locations. New members are always welcome!

-   Work with the PCA to find a mutually agreeable day and time;

-   Advertise the event through Facebook;
